Denver: Notes from the January Confluence

We had a great meeting last week with a dozen of us gathered to discuss what we felt was good in our lives last year and what we hope to do in 2009. Susan led a group activity for folks to meet with each other and share 2008 accomplishments and their personal impacts, and then individuals took turns sharing with the group passions for 2009 as well as announcements for current projects coming to fruition.  It was inspiring to hear how much everyone had done in 2008, and we look forward to continuing to support each other’s needs as we explore our passions and carry out our 2009 projects.

Fittingly, we came across the following thoughts on our hidden passions from The Daily OM, and how we might revive them in the new year:

Nothing can fill the emptiness that remains in a space vacated by a passion that we have tossed aside. Besides, life is too short to stop doing what you love, and it is never too late to rediscover your favorite things. If you gave up playing an instrument, painting, drawing, spending time in nature, or any other activity or interest that you once loved to do, now may be the time to take up that passion again.

Below is a collection of what is coming up for people so far in 2009 in the way of announcements:

  • Suzy is working on Bless the Sun–an event that honors the light from the moment every 28 years that the sun returns to the position of creation.
  • Beth announced SuperFunDance!, which happens the 3rd Saturday of every month.  See www.superfundance.org for details.
  • Andrew is excited to attend an event with a guru who will facilitate learning around meditation, peacebuilding, and conflict resolution.  Details yet to come.
  • Marcus and Christine announced that there is a 10-bedroom ‘house on the hill’ outside Denver on 87 acres of land available for community circles.  The owners are passionate about community building and organizing and would love to have you rent the space!  The owners are having an open house February 7th from 10am – 4pm.  For more information email ricktidrick@yahoo.com.
  • Taj announced the upcoming Colfax Photosafari in May, and community gallery showing July 4.  Join www.colfaxlove.com to receive an announcement.

Mark your calendars and join us Tuesday, February 10th as we once again convene to create abundance in our community by sharing our passions, needs, and gifts.  Tell your friends, bring friends, and we’ll see you then!
