For the April confluence I am excited to introduce Todd Siler, PhD who will be leading us in a process he calls Metaphorming. Todd has developed this over many years, working with people of all types & ages, from school children to top executives at Fortune 500 companies.
He tells us, “this interactive presentation will provide you with some key tools, methods, knowledge, and experiences for discovering and applying your creative potential in new ways … the Metaphorming process provides a global common language that enables people to conceptualize, visualize, express and present their ideas, viewpoints, knowledge, and experiences in ways that effectively communicate the essence and details of their thinking.”
—-IMPORTANT UPDATE AFTER THE BREAK—-
I was particularly pleased to read Todd’s goal for this exercise…
- Inspiring your abundant openness to new ideas
- Stimulating your abundant curiosity
- Exercising your abundant creativity
- Tapping your abundant imagination
- And provoking your abundant critical thinking
Hmm… sounds like we have some common vocabulary. Each month we in the Abundance League talk about our passions with the underlying assumption that all we need to fulfill them can be found among the gifts from people in the room. This month we will take that idea one step further with this hands-on exercise.
—UPDATE—
In order to get the best of both worlds, Todd will be combining the tAL model into the process for our gathering. Be sure to check the updated AGENDA. The process will look something like this:
- Todd provides an overview of the model building process, e.g. history, etc.
- You build symbolic models of your passions, needs + gifts
- You “unpack” your models for the group, discussing your passions, needs + gifts in the process and with renewed vigor
“Todd Siler is a visual artist, writer, inventor, educator and consultant who received his PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies in Psychology and Art from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1986.
