How to have fun, save money, and make a difference in a punk economy.
We live in uncertain times. “Civilization” seems to be falling apart. What to do? Like always, nature has an answer. Insects, mammals, birds, and fish often “swarm” to find food, built shelter, or evade predators. We’re going to model nature for our June event by using the World Cafe format – a conversational swarm – to generate ideas about how to thrive in today’s crap storm. Thriving in Chaos will focus our attention us on the possibility, freedom, and fun offered by the unwinding of the zombie economy.
Here’s what we’re going to do:
There will be one table for each of the evening’s topics:
- Table 1: Having fun in a down economy
- Table 2: Saving money
- Table 3: Making a difference
After the usual member announcements, there will be three 20 minute rounds of discussion. After each round, you’ll have the option of staying at your table or moving to a new table to discuss one of the other topics. Each table will have a host to help to facilitate discussions. After the third round, we’ll reconvene as a group to hear from the table hosts and others about the highlights from their table discussions. And we’ll document our ideas together so we can share them on the Abundance League blog for everyone’s benefit.
The evening will be a conversational jam session to generate practical ideas about how to thrive in chaos. Please join us!

Thanks Susan! I’ll let you know how it goes. Can’t recommend it yet
What I’m really looking forward to is seeing how we can blend online and offline with this one by using the meeting to create useful content for the wider world.
